We believe in our products and know that they are healthy and 100% Natural. Our idea for this particular snack was born while trying to change our family diet to be healthier overall.
Joan, as President, has done extensive research regarding nutrition for our family. Our son was becoming a borderline Diabetic at the age of fourteen. This was discovered when he was faced with having surgery every month for fourteen months for a rare condition. The Doctor became very concerned about his fasting glucose levels. Joan immediately began researching on-line and through books to find out what affected the glycemic index in foods. She found that using Whole-Wheat berries ground into flour made the foods truly "whole wheat", and a more complex carbohydrate, which in turn lowered the glycemic index of any food made with it. This complex carbohydrate takes the body longer to break down thereby decreasing the effects on the need for insulin production and reducing the roller coastering of sugar levels in the body. After approximately two months of eating bread, granola bars and other food prepared from whole wheat flour, our sons fasting glucose levels went from 135 to 85. In addition, all his other blood levels lined up much better. So much, in fact, the Doctors and nurses inquired into what we had changed in his diet. They found the results to be amazing! Joan simply explained that the biggest change had been the addition of using fresh ground wheat berries in all of our diets.
The business idea was started when Andy brought a pan of granola which she made regularly for our family to work for a birthday. Four employees ordered pans that very day. Further, the company had scheduled a Health Fair sponsored by a local hospital for the following week. When the Purchasing Manager tasted the granola bars, she asked Andy if his wife could bake three more pans for the Health Fair rather than serving the store bought bars that they had already purchased.
We have always seemed to do everything a little different from everyone else, including having our own business since 1996. We are also both entrepreneurial by nature, so when we see an opportunity, we seize it.
Andy, as Senior Vice President received his MBA from Olivet Nazarene University in 1996 and had worked in the Grocery Industry for ten years. He also has fifteen years experience in Warehousing, Distribution, and Logistics.
Nevertheless, our combined experience in both nutrition, food industry, and business has brought us to the point where we are happy to introduce and produce our granola for all that care to enjoy a healthy breakfast OR an amazing and healthy snack. A party in your mouth that you WON'T soon forget!
