Mauby known in the Caribbean islands, has a distinct flavour that some approaches root beer in taste. How to use:
Inside the package you will have:
- Mauby bark
- Cinnamon
- Clove
- Aniseed
- Star Anise
- Bay Leaf
You can also add to:
- Allspice
- Bitters
- Essence
- Mace
- Orange peel
- Half an orange
1.Place a small pot on medium heat, add 3 cups of water, the mauby bark and spices. 2. Allow to boil for 20 minutes or so, The smell of the spices will fill your space with an amazing aroma. After 20 minutes turn off the heat. 3. Leave it to steep for up to 3 hours to over night, the longer the steep time, the darker the colour, and the more flavour will be drawn out of the spices. 4. Strain the spices out of the drink, dilute and sweeten the drink to your liking. If you add sugar only to the mauby without any water, this will become thick, sticky and syrup like. This is mauby concentrated which you can bottle and refrigerate it, when you are ready, simply dilute with enough cold water and ice to your linking and serve. The concentrate will last for several days if not weeks in the fridge. 5. You can sweeten the mauby when ready to use with brown sugar and cold water for a refreshing taste. Enjoy!!
